Division: The Nursing Department at the Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson, LA.
The mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs provided include inpatient acute interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric services are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana.
The Nursing Department is looking for a RN Program Coordinator who will support the Nursing Department by coordinating performance improvement activities, updating and maintaining nursing policies, and conducting internal audits to ensure documentation and practice meet regulatory standards. The position assists with recruiting nurses and managing contract nurse processes, including contracts, invoices, and timesheets. It also helps develop compliance-related procedures, supports education on patient safety and regulatory requirements, reviews variance reports, participates in committees, and ensures timely communication throughout the department. Additionally, the Coordinator maintains all required licensure, training, and accreditation-related competencies and performs duties assigned by the Assistant Director of Nursing to support smooth nursing operations.
Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties:
In this role, you will:

Coordinates the development and implementation of unit performance improvement plans, participates in department performance improvement plans.

Reviews, coordinates and provides guidance to formulate policies and procedures regarding compliance-related activities within the operational process of Nursing Service and clinical provision of care areas.

Investigates and acts on compliance related matters in concert with appropriate departments, correlating information to improve Nursing Service.

Participates in System/Committee meetings as required and/or assigned by Nursing Administration.

Participate in education trainings that are mandatory for accreditation and licensure of the facility.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: The position may be filled as a Probational (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified And Agency-Wide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected.
Compensation: This position has a Special Interest Rate (SER): $3,129.60 bi-weekly/ $39.12 hourly.
