Join a leading acute care facility as a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery (L&D). This 13-week contract offers an exciting opportunity to deliver exceptional maternal and neonatal care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing laboring patients, circulating for C-sections, and providing postpartum care.
Assignment Details
- Location: Tyler, TX
- Start Date: December 1, 2025
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (6 weekends total per contract)
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Local Travelers: Not accepted if residing in specified TX counties (Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, Morris)
Pay Details
- Base Pay Rate: $67/hr
- Overtime: $73.70 (1.1xhourly pay after 36 hours/week)
- Holiday Pay: $73.70 (1.1xhourly pay)
Key Responsibilities
- Manage laboring and postpartum patients, maintaining a 1:2 ratio for Labor, 1:3 for Antepartum, and 1:3 for Mother-Baby.
- Circulate and assist during C-sections, vaginal deliveries, and high-risk deliveries.
- Perform fetal monitoring, EFM interpretation, and amniotic infusions.
- Provide postpartum care, including fundus/lochia assessments, episiotomy care, and wound management.
- Administer and monitor medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Insulin drips, and Antihypertensives.
- Deliver comprehensive newborn care including APGAR scoring, cord care, thermoregulation, and discharge education.
- Support breastfeeding and lactation education, following baby-friendly protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Physical Therapy.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in Labor & Delivery
- Travel Experience: Required
- Charge Experience: Preferred
- Teaching Hospital Experience: Preferred
- Charting System: Epic
- Trauma Level I Experience: Preferred
Certifications
- Required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN (Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced)
Skills & Competencies
Labor & Delivery Procedures
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, forceps/vacuum extractions, and postpartum hemorrhage management
- Perform sterile vaginal exams, amniotic fluid checks, and NST/OCT testing
Postpartum & Neonatal Care
- Manage Cesarean recovery, couplet care, multiple births, and pain management (Epidural, PCA, IV sedation)
- Conduct newborn assessments, hypoglycemia management, and phototherapy supervision
Professional Knowledge
- Isolation precautions/PPE
- Telemetry interpretation
- Vaccine administration
