Salary: Pay Grade 37 - $30.46/hour

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Investigate alleged violations of the Nurse Practice and Licensed Mental Health Technicians Acts. Independently investigate and ascertain facts pertaining to complaints, appeals and lawsuits against Kansas Board of Nursing licensees. Visit the site of the alleged violation. Interview complainants, licensee, and potential witnesses. Obtain records and other evidence of alleged violation. Utilize law enforcement
contacts, KBI, police, etc. to obtain information. Review patient's charts and other related documents in the preparation of cases for hearing. Utilize nursing knowledge to collect information to determine if law was violated and as needed, assist Special Investigators in determining same. Act as a back up to Special Investigator duties. Prepare and serve subpoenas, primarily via certified mail, as needed. Attend trainings as assigned and apply knowledge to investigative process.
Organize evidence and prepare written reports of findings describing the violation. Prepare reports of findings using a computer for data storage retrieval. Present findings to the Board's Investigative Committee. Provide testimony or in other ways assist the Board's Hearing Panel or its attorneys. Testify under oath as required in the presentation of the case before a hearing panel.
Review license applications, including new single state or multi-state license applications, license renewal applications, license conversion applications for Multi-State License, license endorsement, and license reinstatement applications for applicants that have disciplinary action or a criminal record.
Respond to questions and inquiries from licensees, applicants, staff, employers, and others related to investigations. Refer questions and inquiries related to legal/disciplinary actions to Disciplinary Counsel.
Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary.
In addition to the aforementioned, the incumbent will be expected to perform other duties as needed and assigned.

Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas.
