Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 14 Weeks
Employment Type: Contract / Full-Time
Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) or Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM as per facility needs)
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 3–4 days per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (including holidays based on rotation)

Important Notes:

  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles away from the facility
  • Block scheduling or fixed schedules are not available
  • Pediatric experience preferred

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide comprehensive respiratory care in an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing a wide range of respiratory therapies and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Respiratory Care & Treatment

  • Administer respiratory therapies including:
    • Positive pressure therapy
    • Aerosol treatments
    • Oxygen therapy
  • Monitor patient response and adjust treatments as necessary

Critical Care Support

  • Assist physicians with:
    • Initiation and maintenance of mechanical ventilation
    • Advanced airway management
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when required

Diagnostics & Procedures

  • Conduct pulmonary function tests
  • Perform radial arterial punctures for blood gas analysis
  • Monitor and interpret patient respiratory status

Patient Care

  • Deliver high-quality care to patients in acute care settings
  • Perform the majority of respiratory care functions independently
  • Ensure patient safety and adherence to clinical protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree (A.A.S.) in Respiratory Therapy
  • Current New York State license/registration as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical acute care experience post-degree
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Successful completion of pre-employment health clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric respiratory care experience
  • Experience in high-acuity or critical care environments

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in respiratory therapy procedures and patient monitoring
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
