Job Description
Job Scope:
Handles all medical Neonatology cases in the department, and Inpatient’s wards according to policies and procedures of the Department.
Job Responsibilities:
- Attends all “at risk” deliveries.
- Examination of all the newborn babies on daily basis and visits their mothers.
- Manages sick newborn and NICU babies as appropriate.
- Informs and works closely with the specialist/consultant in serious cases, NICU admissions, congenital anomalies, or cases requires referral to other physicians or other hospitals.
- Ensures implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Pediatric Department Policy and Guidelines.
- Responsible to provide the highest quality of service to the patients under his/her care within the resources provided by the program.
- Arranges the patient transfer procedure including contacting the other hospital, stabilizing the patient and completing the referral notes and escorting the patient if required.
- Resides in the hospital site while on call and will make sure the pager/telephone is in good working order.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience
- MBBS and Master Degree in Pediatrics / Neonatology
- Minimum 1 year of experience after Master’s degree in relevant specialty
Job-Specific/Technical Skills
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of Required Organizational practices/patient safety standards.
- Command over professional code of ethics, medical bylaws.
- Knowledge of evidence based Age specific/ Population specific patient care clinical guidelines accepted by the hospital.
- Culturally competent (Kuwaiti patients’ culture and beliefs).
- AHA certified Basic Life support provider
- PALS Pediatric Advance Life support
