Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree. A minimum of three years of administrative experience to include intergovernmental affairs, community outreach, or public relations experience, to include supervisory experience, is required. Additional administrative experience in intergovernmental affairs, community outreach, or public relations experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a Driver s License.

This is an advanced professional public relations and communications work in developing and implementing an extensive public information program in the Miami-Dade County Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources. Incumbents in this classification are responsible for performing a variety of highly critical and complex public relations assignments. Responsibilities include handling media requests to include acting as media spokesperson when assigned, writing and editing public information material, coordinating and managing events, and coordinating and managing community awareness programs and public relations campaigns. Incumbents in this role exercise considerable judgment in the application of journalistic principles and practices and the ability to deal tactfully with officials in the public and private sector. Supervision is exercised over professional staff for specific assignments and functions. General supervision is received from a professional administrative superior who reviews work for completeness and effectiveness.
