Reinforcement Fitter [Moscow, Russia]

Key responsibilities

• Install reinforcement: Place and secure rebar, wire mesh, or other reinforcing elements into concrete forms according to engineering plans.
• Read blueprints: Interpret structural plans, maps, and drawings to understand the required specifications and placement of reinforcement.
• Cut and shape steel: Use tools to cut and bend steel bars to the precise shapes and sizes required for the project.
• Assemble and fasten: Tie or weld the rebar together using various fasteners to create a secure framework.
• Quality control: Ensure all work meets quality and safety standards and contributes to the overall structural integrity of the project.
• Coordinate with teams: Work with other construction professionals, such as engineers and concrete teams, to ensure proper and timely placement of reinforcement.

Required skills and qualifications

• Physical fitness: Must have the strength, stamina, and coordination to handle heavy materials and work in various conditions.
• Technical skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use various tools, including rod-bending machines, blowtorches, and hand tools.
• Attention to detail: A crucial skill for ensuring the correct placement and secure fastening of steel to meet structural requirements.
• Safety awareness: Must follow all site safety procedures to prevent injuries from falls, cuts, and muscle strain.
• Problem-solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues that may arise during installation.
• Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with a team.
• Experience: Often learned through a formal apprenticeship program, but some entry-level positions may be available.
