Description
In this role, you will proactively oversee test fixtures within Apple Reliability Labs, ensuring their suitability for new products and experiments. When needed, you will collaborate with Reliability Engineers and cross functional teams to design new fixtures and test equipment, driving the whole process from design, fit check, fabrication, and on-time delivery, all with a focus on quality. Through engineering collaboration and individual creativity, you are fully encouraged to discover and innovate test development approaches. You will also help maintain the Apple Reliability Labs global tooling database/documentation system, ensuring all global Reliability teams use best known methods and updated fixtures.","responsibilities":"Create imaginative, practical and comprehensive electromechanical test platforms to evaluate the Reliability of Apple’s next-generation products.

Design, procure and release Reliability Lab test equipment and tooling to Apple Reliability Labs
Contribute to the development and implementation of new reliability test procedures and systems to be deployed locally and overseas
Participate in discussions that drive design decisions and action plans to provide effective Reliability test equipment solutions
Engage with and provide technical direction to third party shops for outsourced fabrication of tooling and equipment
Set up and validate new equipment and data acquisition system installations in local Reliability labs
Provide direct lab support to troubleshoot and update existing test equipment

Preferred Qualifications
Applied experience with robotics, motion control programming, or automated systems for test & assembly
Applied experience writing data acquisition code to record data from these devices
Fundamental understanding of mechanics, dynamics, materials and electronics in relation to building automated machinery
Hands-on experience with 3D printing and with machine shop tools like mills, lathes and laser cutters
Dynamic and “can-do” attitude with a passion to deliver groundbreaking technologies and an exceptional customer experience
Willing to travel domestically or internationally
Existing familiarity with consumer electronics industry or Apple products, programs, and/or processes is highly desirable
Showcase demonstrable ability to deal with ambiguity, and work autonomously with occasional guidance or supervision

Minimum Qualifications
5+ years relevant experience, with Bachelor or above degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Automation
Experience in electronic hardware product design
Experience performing fit checks of fixtures and tools
Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly design using 3D CAD (Siemens Teamcenter and NX application experience preferred)
Experience with design, fabrication and assembly of electro-mechanical systems
Professional fluency in English, excellent verbal/written communication skills
Ability to effectively lead multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines
Excited to collaborate among a diverse set of partners
