Huron Law Group is an established and rapidly growing national debt defense law firm focused on providing cost-effective legal representation to consumers. Our firm is currently seeking a remote, full-time attorney, licensed in the state of Texas, to conduct initial consultations, and provide limited-scope legal assistance to consumer clients involved in debt collection lawsuits.
Responsibilities will include handling a volume of pre-suit telephone consultations with clients who have proactively retained the firm for representation in the event they are sued by one or more of their creditors. For clients engaging the firm in a narrower, limited-scope capacity, duties will include reviewing and editing pro se answer drafts prepared by the firm’s paralegals. This role will require a significant amount of time on the phone with clients to ensure they understand the services to be provided by the firm if/when they are sued by a creditor, that they are aware of time-sensitive answer and/or appearance deadlines, and the steps to take upon being served with a lawsuit. Accordingly, preferred candidates will be upbeat, engaging, patient, and comfortable handling a volume of client calls.
The position may ultimately evolve to include formal representation and defense for clients involved in collection cases initiated by original creditors and debt buyers.
Annual salary is $100,000, with additional compensation and benefits, including 10 days of paid time off with increases over time, 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, yearly reviews with raises up to 5%, discretionary bonuses, health, vision, dental, and short-term disability insurance, 401k with employer matching, and payment of bar membership and continuing legal education. This position is fully remote, enabling the attorney to telecommute from any dedicated work location within the United States.
Qualifications:
- Licensed and in good standing with the Texas Bar
- At least 5 years of prior civil litigation experience
- Experience in consumer debt defense and/or collections preferred
