Job Overview
The Medical Consult Review Specialist will support a plastic surgery practice by reviewing patient consultation submissions and preparing structured consult notes.
The position is not high-volume and allows for gradual role expansion into basic post-operative support and frequently asked questions, strictly within defined non-clinical boundaries.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Review patient consultation information submitted via JotForm and HIPAA-compliant email.
- Prepare clear, concise, and structured consult review notes for physician review.
- Ensure all notes accurately reflect patient concerns, history, and relevant details provided.
- Forward completed consult notes to the physician in a timely manner.
Secondary / Future Responsibilities (As Approved)
- Respond to basic post-operative questions and non-clinical frequently asked questions, including messages received via social media platforms.
- Identify and escalate any clinical or medical advice requests directly to the physician without providing independent medical guidance.
- Support workflow efficiency by flagging urgent or time-sensitive patient concerns.
Scope and Limitations
- This role does not involve providing independent medical advice.
- Any clinical recommendations, diagnoses, or treatment guidance must be:
- Reviewed and approved by the physician, or
- Forwarded directly to the physician for response.
- A documented workflow will be followed to ensure compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements.
Tools and Systems
- No Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system is used.
- Primary tools include: HIPAA-compliant email and JotForm
- Training materials, guidance, and instructional videos will be provided.
- The expected onboarding and ramp-up time is a few days.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensed medical professional or qualified medical personnel with experience in clinical documentation or consult reviews. (Plastic surgeon is a plus.)
- Background in plastic surgery, aesthetic medicine, or surgical practices.
- Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Ability to follow structured workflows and escalate appropriately.
