Job Title: Remote Ophthalmic Scribe (Retina)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Remote Ophthalmic Scribe to support ophthalmologists by accurately documenting patient encounters in real time. This role enhances provider efficiency and ensures precise, thorough medical records. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of ophthalmic terminology, excellent listening skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced virtual clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document patient histories, examinations, procedures, and treatment plans in real time during in-person visits
- Accurately enter information into electronic health records (EHR) systems- NextGen experience preferred
- Assist physicians with charting clinical findings, including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and diagnostic interpretation
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of medical documentation for billing and compliance purposes
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Communicate effectively with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation when needed, via teams and other HIPPA secure platforms
- Review and edit notes for accuracy, grammar, and completeness
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience as a medical scribe, preferably in Ophthalmology- Retina
- Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, anatomy, and common procedures
- Proficiency with EHR systems and medical documentation standards
- Strong typing skills (minimum 60 WPM preferred)
- Excellent listening, comprehension, and multitasking abilities
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet workspace
Required:
Scribing experience in a Retina pratice
Preferred Skills:
- Certification as an OSC, COA or COT
- Familiarity with ophthalmology-specific software and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to adapt to different physician preferences and workflows
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- NextGen EHR experience
Work Environment:
- Fully remote position
- Flexible scheduling based on provider needs but mostly M-F 7:45- 5 PM PST
- Collaborative virtual team environment
