Work from home 100%:

Let me start by saying this is a 100% remote (work-from-home) position. The company has been 100% remote since I started the company thirteen years ago because I wanted to be in the comfort of my home more often. It’s peaceful; I like to light a candle, decorate my space the way I want, be in tons of sunlight, and set the temperature to whatever I want. No more freezing in a cold office every day.

Not to mention the total bliss of working in your PJs. It really does improve the quality of work (and life) when you’re comfortable all day.

4-Day Work Week (Fridays Off):

We run by a work schedule built for parents. Our core hours, 9am to 3pm (in your time zone), were designed for parents who need to balance school and daycare priorities on weekdays. You need 8 hours per day though. Our team prefers to start their day early in the morning, when it’s quiet, and you won’t get interrupted. Then you can end the day earlier and have a life.

So, for example, you might start your workday at 6 or 7am, then end it at 3pm to pick up your kids from school, or do a long walk, or go to the gym before dinner. You're getting 8 hours per day, during core team hours.

Now here is the real cherry on top! Or maybe it's the whole cake. You get every Friday off as long as you get your work done in a timely manner and to the highest quality standards, Monday-Thursday (32 hours).

We also have 2 weeks of PTO and a bunch of holidays during the year, including Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, Thanksgiving Eve, and Black Friday. Again, family time around holidays, always!

So what will you be doing?

Percentology is a dental bookkeeping firm (public accounting). We do bookkeeping for 150+ dental practices in a special way that helps dentists compare their practice profitability to industry averages. But have no fear, you don’t need to have any experience with dentistry. We will train you around the industry’s financial activity and benchmarking.

Therefore, we are looking for a staff accountant with experience in public accounting. If you’re not sure what public accounting is, then you might not be the best fit for this role. But essentially, public accounting is what you do when you work in an accounting firm. We are looking for accountants with experience at a small- to medium-sized accounting firm, as you will be performing the bookkeeping and client work typically done there. We work primarily in QuickBooks Online software, so you really need to be fluent with QBO. Tax experience would be awesome, but we DON’T do taxes. It just helps you navigate bookkeeping more effectively.

No Tax Returns, No overtime:

Do the peaceful type of accounting so that you're not bringing stress home with you. NO taxes, NO receivables, NO payables, NO payroll, and NO client phone calls. And as you probably already figured out, No Taxes means we never have overtime either. We find that stress-free work becomes higher-quality, more fulfilling work, and in turn leads to a happy team, which then becomes happy clients. Happy work, happy team, happy clients.

What you WON’T be doing:

Day-to-Day:

You will be updating/categorizing bookkeeping transactions daily in QuickBooks Online software for about 35-40 dental practice clients assigned to you. At month-end, you will reconcile accounts to bank balances and ask your client any questions that come up during the month. All communication with clients is done through email. No phone calls. So you need to be great with email communication.

The day-to-day includes any of the following:

• Pleasantly interfacing with clients through email (no phone calls)
• Categorizing and organizing all transactions in QuickBooks Online
• Reconciling all balance sheet accounts
• Reconciling payroll transactions using payroll reports
• Creating amortization schedules using bank loan terms
• Clearing up transaction questions with clients through email
• Being human and supportive with the clients every day by developing relationships

Must-Haves:

• You must have a minimum of three (3) years in public accounting (that means working in a CPA Firm)
• 4-year Accounting degree from an accredited University/College
• Experience working with various clients in QuickBooks Online
• Human, but great written communication skills since we use only email with clients
• You must have a good computer and two monitors; we don't provide equipment. All work is done in browser applications.
• You must have a quiet, private space with fast internet.
• You must be able to work independently and have the discipline to uphold deadlines. We really need to be able to depend on you getting the work done. If you're easily distracted in a remote environment, this job isn't a good fit for you.
