Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Tax Expert, CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or EA (Enrolled Agent) to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and non-profit organizations using advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial tools.
- Provide strategic tax planning advice related to estate planning, mergers & acquisitions, securities law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other specialized areas to maximize client benefits.
- Conduct detailed analysis of financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports to identify opportunities for tax savings and improved financial health.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory standards through meticulous review of accounting records and internal controls.
- Assist clients with auditing processes by preparing necessary documentation and supporting audit procedures while maintaining accuracy in double entry bookkeeping and account reconciliation tasks.
- Interpret complex financial concepts for clients by writing clear financial reports and providing actionable insights on investments, asset management, private equity, and financial planning strategies.
- Support clients in regulatory reporting, general ledger reconciliation, payroll processing, accounts payable management, and budgeting activities to streamline their financial operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in tax preparation with a strong background in tax accounting and public accounting environments.
- CPA or EA certification is required; additional credentials in estate planning, securities law, or non-profit accounting are a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting standards.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; familiarity with financial software used for analysis and reporting is essential.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately and efficiently.
- Experience working with regulatory frameworks including SOX compliance and understanding of securities law is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for writing detailed financial reports and providing clear guidance on financial concepts like budgeting, asset management, mergers & acquisitions, and investment strategies.
