About the Program
Join us for a 12-week, hands-on internship experience where you’ll gain real-world exposure to the construction industry while contributing to meaningful projects that drive impact Boyd Jones Construction. Our interns are not here to “just observe” you’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, sharpen your skills, and leave with tangible accomplishments to add to your resume.

Key Responsibilities…
- Assist in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Support development and processing of project documents (RFIs, submittals, drawings, change orders, ASIs, addendums, etc.) and track turnaround times.
- Participate in site layout and assist with material takeoffs.
- Provide accurate documentation for meetings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Help monitor and update project schedules.
- Assist site teams with daily deliverables including material counts, quality assurance checks, logistics, and coordination meetings.
- Conduct regular site walks to observe and document work progress.
- Contribute to safety initiatives by assisting with job hazard analyses and promoting safe work practices.
- Support subcontractor coordination and work scope reviews.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project success.
What you’ll bring…
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related degree program.
- Strong interest in renewable energy construction (solar, wind, or battery storage).
- Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive problem solver.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office; exposure to Procore, Sage, or MS Project a plus.
- Willingness to travel and work extended stays at remote job sites.
Work Environment
- This role is primarily field based at renewable energy construction sites. Conditions may include dirt, dust, mud, noise, confined spaces, and work at heights.
- PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety shoes are required.
- Travel to out-of-state or remote sites will be necessary, with extended stays of 3 weeks or more.
