Key Responsibilities

  1. Diagnostics & Troubleshooting Use diagnostic tools and software to identify faults in mechanical, electrical, fuel, emission, and hydraulic systems. Read technical manuals/schematics specific to Volvo and Daewoo trucks. Interpret warning indicators, gauge readings, driver reports to locate problems.
  2. Preventive Maintenance & Inspections Perform scheduled maintenance (oil changes, filter changes, lubrication, coolant, etc.). Conduct regular inspection of all key systems: brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrain, cooling, exhaust. Check safety systems: lights, mirrors, windshields, tires, braking efficiency. Inspect chassis, frame, and body components for wear, damage or corrosion.
  3. Repairs & Component Replacement Remove and replace worn or damaged parts: engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, radiators, wheel bearings, etc. Repair or rebuild assemblies as needed (e.g. turbochargers, pumps). Work on electrical systems: starting, charging, lighting, sensors, wiring faults. Repair / maintain hydraulic & pneumatic systems (e.g. air brakes, suspension).
  4. Overhauls / Major Work Engine overhauls or rebuilds as needed. Transmission, differential or gearbox major repairs. Work on advanced systems like emission control, exhaust after-treatment (if applicable), turbo chargers.
  5. Testing & Verification After repair, test the vehicle to ensure proper function (road test, load test). Verify that repairs meet manufacturer specifications. Monitor for leaks, vibrations, unusual noise or smoke etc., after work.
  6. Documentation & Record-Keeping Maintain accurate logs of all maintenance, diagnostics, repair works including parts used, hours spent. Report recurring issues to maintenance lead or supervisor. Provide cost estimates and time estimates for proposed repair work.
  7. Spare Parts & Tools Management Identify required spare parts; inspect incoming parts for quality. Maintain inventory of frequently used parts. Maintain tools and equipment; ensure diagnostic tools are up-to-date and calibrated.
  8. Safety, Compliance & Cleanliness Follow safety protocols and procedures (use of PPE, lock-out/tag-out, safe handling of fluids etc.). Ensure compliance with environmental and emissions regulations. Dispose of used oils, filters, and hazardous materials appropriately. Keep work area clean, organized.
  9. Teamwork & Communication Coordinate with other mechanics, service supervisors, parts department. Mentor or assist junior mechanics / apprentices. Communicate with drivers / operators to understand issues.
  10. Continuous Learning & Technical Updates Keep up-to-date with Volvo & Daewoo latest models, system updates, and best practices. Train or attend training sessions on diagnostics, new systems (electronic controls, telematics etc.).
