Job Title: Researcher (Qualitative and Data Analysis)

Department/Location: MERL / Remote

Reports To: Project Director

Overview: IBTCI is a US-based development consulting company, seeking a Researcher with strong qualitative and data analytical skills to support our ongoing project for UNICEF evaluation of the maternal and child health handbook (MCH-HB) project in Afghanistan.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Coding of qualitative data in Atlas.ti; development of a codebook (approximately 40 KIIs, could be up to 60 KIIs);
  • Triangulation of primary qualitative information from KIIs with secondary country health data (health statistics, project reports, relevant documentation etc).
  • Data analysis, deriving evaluation findings, conclusions and recommendations;
  • Drafting sections of the final report;
  • Review the report for analytical accuracy, rigor, depth, and quality.

Qualification Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in qualitative research/evaluations
  • Skills in Atlas.ti
  • Strong sectoral experience in health.
  • Strong writing, research, and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) required; fluency in another language preferred. Oral and written fluency in English required, fluency in another language preferred.

Education: Bachelor's or master’s degree in Health, Social sciences, or a related field, such as international development, economics, political science, or public administration

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in Afghanistan is preferred

Working Environment: Work is typically performed remotely.

Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.

- November-January, 2025 (Coding of KIIs - November, 2025; Data analysis/ triangulation - December, 2025; Report preparation with the team - January, 2025).
