Under general supervision, the Research Assistant (RA) will participate in the identification, recruitment, and retention of study participants; data collection and reporting; and provision of navigation support to patients experiencing non-medical drivers of health (NMDoH). The RA will coordinate needed services with the Mays Cancer Center (MCC) nurse navigators and social workers, provide information on community resources available to address patients’ social determinants of health (SDoH), and assist with other study-related tasks. The RA will also review medical records (MR) to identify potential participants and will be responsible for completing all pre- visit and post-visit tasks and documentation. This position will also support other research studies/projects, including Quitxt and LyLAC, as well as community outreach and education activities as needed.
This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in science, health science, public health, or another health-related field is required.Experience:
Basic experience interacting with patients, participant recruitment, informed consent processes, and IRB requirements is preferred. Proficiency in Excel and REDCap, as well as experience in community education and outreach activities, are also preferred. The candidate must have strong communication, writing, organizational, and multitasking skills and be willing to maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate patients’ availability, including occasional after-hours or Saturday activities.
Assist with and participate in daily program operations, including regular team meetings, completion of assigned tasks, routine reporting on study progress, maintaining effective communication with the PI and supervisors, and performing other tasks and responsibilities as required.
