The Developmental Speech Lab (DSL) in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University is seeking a part-time Research Coordinator. We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to interact with our team of engaged and dynamic researchers, clinicians, and students to support aspects of our research projects, facilitate smooth operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This is a 1-year position with the possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities:
- Interface with families participating in research studies: review screening forms, complete screening calls and schedule participants, email appointment reminders/directions, respond to questions/concerns
- Data collection and management: Assist with data collection/experimental sessions, data entry, and data storage/backup
- Participant recruitment: Assist with recruitment efforts: create and distribute fliers, contact speech-language pathologists and pediatrician offices, search for community sources for recruitment
- Regulatory compliance: Help ensure compliance with the Institutional Review Board, secure FERPA/HIPAA forms from participants
- Help oversee student research assistants: Hire, train, and supervise student Research Assistants
- Communication and collaboration: Help promote access, opportunity, and excellence and a respectful and supportive environment
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Products, Canva)
- Experience working with children
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Attention to detail and dependability
- Knowledge of statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R) and data visualization techniques
- Previous experience working in a research laboratory setting, preferably in pediatrics or related fields.
