Pay Range: USD $37,270.00 - USD $72,540.00 /Yr. Overview:
The individual selected for this position will provide professional support for several research projects focused on the abiotic and biotic factors mediating freshwater harmful algal blooms in aquaculture ponds and drinking water and recreational reservoirs. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Perform nutrient analysis on water samples using a spectrophotometer
-
Perform off-flavor analysis on water samples using SPME GC-MS
-
Perform qPCR analysis on water samples

Perform algal pigment analysis, including chlorophyll and phycocyanin using a fluorometer

Engage in field work to collect water samples

Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment

Maintain inventory and order supplies

Train new members of the lab in various water quality techniques

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
Research Assistant I
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related field.
Research Assistant II
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related discipline plus 2 years of experience relevant to the position.
Research Assistant III
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related discipline plus 4 years of experience relevant to the position.
Research Associate I
Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related at the time employment begins; no experience required.
Research Associate II
Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related discipline plus 2 years of experience relevant to the position.
Substitutions Allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Possesses general knowledge in field of research, and has strong knowledge of moderately complex equipment, materials and processes related to lab/facility operations, including moderately complex procedures for observation, documentation and data collect
