The GARP Research Assistant II (RAII) assists in the operation of the laboratory by performing specialized tasks involving genomic profiling technologies including Next-Generation Sequencing. The position is responsible for the operation of various instruments and processing samples for users of the GARP core. The RAII interacts with various research areas by providing genomic profiling expertise to augment ongoing research.

Perform genomic profiling related duties including NGS library construction.

Assist in RNA-seq library construction.

Operate and maintain NGS sequencers.

Configure and operate Illumina NGS platforms.

Participate in experimental design and R&D projects.

Validate commercial NGS library prep kits as well as custom protocols.

Develop and maintain lab protocols and actively participate in improving protocols.

Work synergistically with peers from your own and other groups.

Train co-workers in the proper use of instrumentation, protocols, and software.

Organize and prioritize work to ensure on-time delivery of results.

Interpret results for validity and scientific meaning.

Present scientific results clearly in written and oral format.

Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.

Three years of relevant experience.

Master's degree in basic science or a related field.

Experience with NGS highly desired.

Strong experience with basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, capillary electrophoresis) preferred.
