Job Profile
- Develop and apply AI/ML algorithms to improve climate model simulations and forecasts (e.g., rainfall, temperature, monsoon, sea-level rise, extreme events).
- Design and implement AI/ML-based model bias correction methods to reduce systematic errors in global and regional climate models.
- Apply statistical and ML-based downscaling techniques to generate high-resolution climate projections.
- Work with large-scale climate datasets (CMIP6, ISIMIP, CORDEX, ERA5, satellite observations) to preprocess, analyze, and derive insights.
- Develop user-oriented portals/tools for visualization, climate risk assessment, and dissemination.
- Use climate data processing tools such as CDO, FERRET, NCL, and handle NetCDF/HDF data formats.
- Implement advanced data analysis and visualization workflows using Python libraries such as:
- pandas, numpy, xarray, geopandas for climate and geospatial data processing
- scipy.stats (e.g., linregress) for statistical analysis
- plotly.express for interactive visualization
- asyncio for asynchronous and parallel computation
- Collaborate with climate scientists, hydrologists, and data engineers to integrate AI pipelines with physical modelling frameworks.
- Contribute to projects on climate extremes, monsoon dynamics, thermodynamics, and sea-level/storm surge modelling.
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and contribute to open-source climate-AI tools.

Qualification
- Master-s or PhD in- Climate Science- Atmospheric Sciences- Physics- Data Science- Applied Mathematics- Ocean Science or related fields.
Skills
- Strong programming skills in Python with expertise in: pandas- numpy- xarray- geopandas -
plotly.express- scipy- asyncio
- Hands-on experience with climate and geoscience datasets (NetCDF- GRIB- HDF).
- Strong background in machine learning/deep learning (TensorFlow- PyTorch- Scikit-learn).
- Proven experience in bias correction and statistical downscaling using AI/ML methods.
- Experience with CDO- FERRET- NCL for data processing and analysis.
- Familiarity with large-scale data processing on HPC or cloud computing platforms.
