Introduction:

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to:
  • review and screen hospital data and lab reports for patient enrollment
  • perform duties at field site OPDs, including clinical examination of patients
  • visit field sites within and outside Karachi for project activities
  • collect data and train junior staff on proper data‑collection procedures
  • ensure validity and accuracy of collected data
  • enter data in Excel, SPSS or other software
  • ensure proper collection of samples and specimens according to guidelines
  • ensure correct storage and transport of samples to the laboratory
  • monitor data collectors to maintain data‑quality standards
  • raise community awareness on maternal sepsis in line with project guidelines
  • assist study investigators during visits to hospital facilities
  • ensure adherence to project SOPs and guidelines
  • support proper implementation of project interventions
  • assist supervisors in day‑to‑day project tasks
  • perform additional duties assigned by supervisors
  • communicate and coordinate with the research team regarding project implementation
  • prepare and present weekly activity reports
  • contribute to analysis of study data
  • assist in drafting manuscripts
  • perform household visits as required by the study
  • prepare monthly and quarterly reports.

Requirements:

You should have:
  • MBBS degree
  • valid PMDC license
  • at least one to two years of relevant experience in clinical research
  • good academic writing and basic analysis skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and SPSS
  • ability to respect and work effectively within diverse cultural settings
  • excellent time‑management skills and ability to prioritize
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • resilience and ability to work under pressure
  • willingness to work in community and field environments.
