Research Associate – Organic Waste Management & Soil Systems

Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly qualified Research Associate with strong academic training and practical experience to support a KTP project focused on organic waste management, silage production, and composting systems in agricultural environments. The role will contribute to developing innovative, locally relevant solutions for sustainable agriculture, particularly in dry or semi-arid regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct applied research in organic waste management, including silage production and composting processes.
  • Study and analyze soil–plant–microbe interactions and organic matter decomposition.
  • Design, implement, and monitor field trials under real agricultural conditions.
  • Apply microbiology, chemistry, and environmental science techniques to assess organic materials and biological activity.
  • Operate and interpret results from laboratory analytical instruments related to microbiology and organic material analysis.
  • Adapt and optimize research systems to suit practical farming environments.
  • Analyze research data and translate scientific findings into practical, scalable applications.
  • Collaborate closely with farmers, technical teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Support knowledge transfer, including training sessions, stakeholder engagement, and documentation.
  • Contribute to project reporting, research planning, and overall research operations management.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Microbiology, Agricultural Science, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated research experience in organic waste management, composting, or silage systems.
  • Strong understanding of soil science, plant systems, and microbiological processes.
  • Hands-on experience with microbial culture techniques and laboratory analysis.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute field-based research trials.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
