CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The CUNY Dominican Studies Institute was founded in 1992 at The City College of New York. It is the nation’s first university- based research institute dedicated to the study of the Dominican people, particularly those who have made the United States their home. In addition to producing rigorous and impactful scholarship, working with younger generations at all levels, including undergraduate and school students, has long been a central priority and an essential component of the Institute’s mission.
A defining hallmark of the Institute is its unique ability to integrate participants across these diverse educational levels into its research projects, creating a dynamic, intergenerational model of learning that transcends age and academic stage. In 2025, these programs served close to 800 students, including 20 participants from across the United States in the Summer Research Internship.
While these initiatives have grown into a robust educational pipeline, serving multiple stages of the academic journey in a structured sequence and representing the only program of its kind in the nation focused on Dominican Studies, the Institute seeks a candidate who can support the continued research, assessment, and development of its educational programs and initiatives.
