Research Associate Professor

Job Summary

  • The Research Assistant/Associate Professor is responsible for developing and implementing research projects
  • Ensuring the data processing and data analysis capabilities of SESRI
  • Coordinating and providing technical direction for the analysis of data collected in each survey undertaken by SESRI
  • Initiating and directing efforts to ensure accuracy and, where appropriate, to promote innovation in measurement and instrument design
  • Managing SESRI’s data archiving activities

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and administering procedures for all data processing, analysis, and management operations
  • Coordinating and providing technical leadership/assistance for the design, application, and evaluation of survey instruments, with particular attention to validity, reliability, precision, and cost-effectiveness
  • Coordinating and providing technical leadership/assistance for the analysis of data collected in each survey undertaken by SESRI, including index and scale construction and univariate, bivariate, and multivariate statistical analyses
  • Participating in writing papers, articles, and research reports that present findings from surveys undertaken by SESRI
  • Providing administrative and technical leadership/assistance for all data archiving operations, including cleaning and standardization, storage and retrieval, distribution and dissemination, and merging and construction of integrated data files
  • Providing support and mentoring to Research Assistants in the course of their work
  • Participating actively in SESRI events, such as conferences, training workshops, and public lectures
  • Participating in teaching if needed in accordance with QU policies and procedures
  • Performing all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Education and Certifications

    • PhD degree with a concentration in a relevant discipline (such as health, education, sociology, political science, economics, communication, and media studies)

    Languages

    • Excellent proficiency in English and/or Arabic (both written and verbal)

    Experience

    • Expertise in the use of statistical packages such as R, SAS, SPSS, or STATA for both data processing and analysis
    • Four or more years of experience in the conduct of survey research, including data analysis and data management
    • Experience in the conduct of survey research in the Arab world, preferably in the Gulf region
    • Experience in the conduct of survey research in locations where survey research is not widespread (preferable)
