Research Coordinator II - Children's Nutrition Research Center

Summary

Research Coordinator II needed to provide research coordination for a productive nutrition and metabolism research program. The candidate will interact with multiple team members and research participants. The candidate will follow established guidelines and support the principal investigator (PI) and research team in coordination of research activities, will maintain regulatory documents and recruit research participants.

Flexible schedule required to accommodate children and parents; the research unit offers two open Saturdays per month.

Job Duties

• Provide the principal investigator and research team with support in planning and coordinating research activities.
• Responsible for recruiting research participants, obtaining informed consent, and scheduling research activities.
• Maintain the research database.
• Submit research protocols to regulatory agencies (e.g., IRB, research units).
• Maintain regulatory binders.
• Coordinate research activities and conduct metabolic studies and clinical trials.
• Collaborate with the nursing unit to accommodate the research needs of participants.
• Process and ship biological specimens as needed, in coordination with study staff.
• Serve as a liaison and distribute research-related information to the principal investigator, faculty, research staff, and other stakeholders as required.
• Educate participants on key aspects of the study.
• Phlebotomy expertise, including processing and shipping of biological specimens, is preferred.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
• One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree (MS) preferred.
• Minimum of two years of relevant research experience, including recruitment and consent of research participants and involvement in clinical trials.
• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Familiarity with electronic data systems such as REDCap.
• Knowledge of medical conditions is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
