The Wellesley College Psychology Department is currently seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to facilitate and coordinate research activities in the department.
The Research Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the research participant pool; supporting the Research Committee; executing the procedures for the Ethics Review Committee; supervising the use of research space in shared research suites; overseeing and maintaining computer laboratories, AV equipment, tests and measures files; updating and compiling Research Methods Handbooks; providing logistical support for research methods courses; supervising and training student employees; and providing logistical and technical support in the use of online platforms for recruiting, scheduling, and testing participants.
Primary Responsibility:
Oversee the departmental research participant pool, including Sona Systems, presentation visits to classes to orient students for participation, and credit tracking (20%)
Support the use of software for research design and analysis, and platforms for administering and participating in studies run remotely (20%)
Facilitate the work of the Research Committee and the Ethics Review Committee, serve as primary point of contact for research-related questions. Manage RAFs, track IRB/CITI requirements (20%)
Oversee and maintain laboratory spaces, AV equipment, tests and measures files, and research methods handbook (20%)
Supervise the use of research space in compliance with departmental rules and health and safety protocols (10%)
Lead long term initiatives and projects, such as maintaining research-related google sites and developing tutorials for research students (10%)
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Psychology involving knowledge of key concepts and research methodologies.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer’s sponsorship now or in the future.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong computer skills required, including capacity to support high-level student and faculty use of SPSS, Qualtrics, MTurk, and experimental presentation systems (e.g., Testable, PsychoPy). Knowledge of R preferred. Must be willing to continue acquiring and developing research skills on the job including data analysis, data visualization, and experimental preparation. Strong organizational and written and oral communication skills required, including a willingness to hone public speaking skills. Capacity to work independently and be proactive while keeping supervisors apprised of progress is a must. Ability to operate and maintain audio-visual equipment is necessary. Ability and desire to mentor undergraduates who are new to research preferred. Must be able to work in a culturally diverse environment.
Position Details:
Full time, 10-month position. Position begins in August 2026. Initial appointment is for one year with an option to continue for a second year based on performance
Salary:
The pay range for this role is $20 - $22/hr.
