SCHOOL/UNIT DESCRIPTION:
Stanford University’s Center on Food Security and the Environment (FSE) addresses critical global issues of hunger, poverty and environmental degradation. Our long-term goals focus on designing new approaches to solving food security’s global challenges by building an evolving research portfolio with a team of experts in relevant scientific, economic, and policy areas. FSE is a joint effort of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies and the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Center on Food Security and the Environment (FSE) is seeking a research data analyst (RDA) to contribute to several academic research projects that combine new data sources and computational tools to study climate and air pollution, global poverty, and food security working with Professor Marshall Burke. The RDA will help with identifying, assembling, and geo-coding datasets on household assets, health, and environmental outcomes around the world. They will also participate in lab meetings of the Stanford ECHOlab. The position will require a very organized and creative person who can write efficient code, work with with large datasets, and contribute to other aspects of the scientific research process. Must have exceptional mathematical and statistical modeling and computer programming skills and willingness to use them in an innovative manner. Must have the ability to work comfortably and effectively within an interdisciplinary research environment. Ideally, prospective candidates would be excited about participating in academic research. Past data analysts working in this role have earned co-authorship on top scientific publications and have gone on to study in top PhD programs. This recruitment is for a one (1) year fixed-term, 100% FTE benefits-eligible position which begins on the start date and may be renewable in the future based on funding availability.

Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in quantitative disciplines such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering.

The expected pay range for this position is $80,148 to $99,773 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs. At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
