Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $58,000.00 - $88,000.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

What you will be doing

Full-time, On-Site, Monday through Friday with flexibility and willingness to travel for conferences, 1-to-2-year position reporting to Director of Research, Dr. Celeste Abjornson

Position requires a Strong Academic Record and MD for a fellow pursuing a career in orthopedic surgery.

Research Fellow works with a team including the Principal Investigator, Dr.Darren Lebl, Spine Surgeon, doctors, fellows, residents, peers, patients and industry professionals including external auditors, in orthopedics. Work encompasses clinical research in Biomaterials, Motion Preservation, Robotics and Navigation and Patient Outcomes. There is a strong focus on Robotic Surgery . Tasks include research design and protocol writing, data collection and analysis, IRB submissions and communication. Here the Research Fellow gains a broad understanding by participating in all areas of clinical research from beginning to end, in the writing of academic abstracts, to submitting and editing journal publications.

A qualified candidate is self-driven, reliable and meets deadlines with proficiency and care. This high-paced, achievement driven position requires diligence in meeting deadlines and ongoing communication with team. The candidate must be flexible, as the job responsibilities evolve with the many responsibilities of each research project. The position is not work from home. The candidate must be available on site throughout each workday. The candidate will have the opportunity to submit abstracts to various academic conferences and present study results.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet the ongoing requirements of regulatory, institutional and departmental compliance.
  • Develop and maintain research databases with guidance from the Principal Investigator.
  • Prepare initial and final drafts of protocols and manuscripts as requested by the Principal Investigator.
  • Complete CitiTraining: Good Clinical Practice in research of human subjects.
  • Thoroughly care for the management of clinical study subject binders, subject interaction, scheduling and follow-up.
  • Manage and execute IRB submissions for initial approval, amendments, etc… Ensure timeliness and accuracy in submissions with diligent follow up to IRB requests.
  • Perform data collection and data entry for studies as requested.
  • Schedule and conduct subject interviews, follow up visit and phone calls to obtain data per protocol. Ensure accuracy when transcribing data from data collection sheets, medical records, or electronic institutional databases or other source documents into databases.
  • Prepare required reports, abstract writing and journal entries.
  • Conduct statistical data analysis working with biostatisticians and prepare graphs and tables in preparation for research presentations, abstracts, manuscripts or other publications as requested by the Principal Investigator or Director of Research.
  • Provide timely progress reports as required by the Principal Investigator.
  • Maintain and enhance professional growth through participation in seminars, professional affiliations, and internal training sessions to keep abreast of trends in research and the field of spine.
  • Perform duties and projects as designated by the Director of Research.
  • Work as a mentor, with research assistants, helping them to navigate assigned projects.
  • Complete eLearning education for all required software applications such as Epic, eCap, and other databases, and complete training for all areas of hospital requirements upon hiring and as needed.
  • Work seamlessly with team members.
  • Focus on robotics in spinal surgery

Education and Training

  • MD
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and Good Technology Practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications
