Qatar University’s Agricultural Research Station is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Professor in Natural Resource Management, with a focus on water, soil, and plant resources. This is a research-oriented position with minimal or no teaching responsibilities. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to innovative research projects addressing critical challenges in natural resource management, with an emphasis on the conservation and sustainable use of resources in agricultural production within arid and semi-arid environments.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research on water, soil, and plant resource conservation and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Design and implement research studies, including fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and data modeling.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
- Secure research funding through competitive grants and partnerships.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address sustainability challenges in agriculture.
- Supervise and mentor students and junior researchers.
- Engage with farmers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers to translate research into practical applications.
- Develop partnerships with communities and stakeholders to maximize research impact.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends in natural resource management.
Qualifications
- PhD in Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Soil Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of post-PhD research experience in natural resource management.
- Strong record of research and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Demonstrated experience in securing research funding and writing grant proposals.
- Expertise in water resource management, soil conservation, plant ecology, or sustainable land use.
- Strong understanding of environmental policies and sustainability practices.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is preferred.
