Research Project Assistant

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to all aspects of the animal production industry, including livestock, water, range and pasture, wildlife management, nutrition, reproduction and meat products. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct ruminant livestock research.
  • Assist with graduate student projects including:
    • Data collection
    • Analysis and publication
    • Guest lecture in Animal Science courses
  • Work independently on animal research projects.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Masters Degree in Animal Science or related field.
  • Experience working with ruminant livestock.
  • Experience with ruminant nutrition laboratory methods.
  • Experience with data management and analysis.
  • Experience with manuscript preparation.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Solid background with forage nutrition as it relates to beef production.
  • Proven track record in oral and written communication.
  • Willingness to assist other graduate students with research. projects including laboratory work, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
  • Understanding and experience in low-stress livestock management.

The Successful Candidate Will
The successful candidate will have a solid background in ruminant nutrition research and beef production systems. Abilities will include forage chemistry training, sample processing, conducting animal performance and nutrition research projects.
