Description
We are looking for a research scientist to work on a wide array of projects that combine data science, research, and behavioral science. You’ll wear many hats, from internal R&D to client-facing projects to product development. We are looking for a curious, passionate, and creative individual. You’ve cut your teeth in research and are now looking to work in a fast-paced company to innovate and deliver impact to our clients. The exact projects you work on - whether heavier on data, behavior science, or primary data collection - depends on your expertise and ambitions.

What you’ll achieve:
- Deliver on a wide range of research activities such as data analytics, literature review, instrument development, development of novel data sources, compiling reports and slide decks
- Innovate, experiment, and deliver with unlimited ownership: impact the direction of the organization with your creativity and technical know-how.
- Innovate with new methodologies, analytical technologies, and data sources
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Client Engagement, and R&D teams to deliver data and AI-powered solutions
About you:
- You have a PhD in a relevant field - such as psychology, health sciences, economics, neuroscience
- You have a deep interest in how non-clinical factors like beliefs, attitudes, and barriers impact healthcare behaviors and outcomes
- You are excited to innovate and push quality whatever project you’re involved in
- You are a proficient data scientist, including strong knowledge of applied statistics.
- You are highly experienced in R and/or Python, and are experienced in / eager to learn Databricks
- You have strong opinions and are able to voice them when it comes to your areas of expertise
- You enjoy working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where you can both lead strategically and build hands-on
Location: This role is based in either Washington D.C. or London (UK). In DC, the team comes into the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In London, we are still building our hub but over time you would come in Tue + Thu as well. If you can only be 100% remote, please do not apply for this role as we will not make exceptions.
Travel: Some travel (up to 10%) possible.

Compensation packages are based on several factors such as skill set, prior relevant experience, education, certifications, and market considerations. In addition to base compensation, individuals may be eligible for annual performance-based bonuses and equity (if applicable). We aim to pay salaries that are competitive, benchmarked against companies that are similar in stage, size, and market to Surgo Health.
