The Research Senior Associate serves as researcher for sponsored research in the Ohio Education Research Center within The John Glenn College of Public Affairs; monitors performance on assigned tasks; works with Glenn College Grants and Contracts Manager and sub-award personnel to meet fiscal and E04 reporting requirements; collaborates with OERC Director, principal investigator(s), staff scientists at OSU and research teams at other universities to develop and implement research protocols/procedures, and collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data; writes statistical analysis and performs statistical modeling; maintains confidential data sets; writes grant reports to funding agencies; drafts articles, presentations, proposals, and technical reports for publication in conjunction with project principal investigator(s); delivers scientific presentations; supervises undergraduate or graduate students as assigned.

Duties Description
Serves as researcher for sponsored research programs as assigned (including report writing, proposal development, research management) with qualitative research focus

  • Collecting data from interviews, surveys, and administrative data
  • Preparing measures, code, and documentation for data analysis and research projects
  • Writing analyses of qualitative and quantitative work


Collaborates with OERC Director, principal investigator(s), staff scientists at OSU and research teams at other universities

  • Prepare proposals, monthly reports, interim and final reports
  • Writes and supports writing for other team members in areas of expertise
  • Serves as peer reviewer and consultant for internal research efforts

Supervises undergraduate or graduate students or less experienced staff as assigned;

  • Supports Public Sector Data Science internship or other student instruction as required
  • Provides support to training on related research activities to internal and external clients

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A master’s degree or equivalent professional experience is required.

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; those with a master’s degree must have at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with qualitative data analysis software, such as Dedoose, is essential
  • Experience in K-12 education preferred
  • Proficiency in either R or Python at an advanced level is preferred.

Relevant Coursework:

  • Strong foundation in mixed methods, research design and evaluation, and statistics

Additional information:

This is a 100% grant-funded, two-year position, renewable for up to three years based on funding and performance.

Salary range: $58,700 to $77,200. The salary for this position will be determined by internal equity, budget, and the candidate’s education and experience.
