Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Biology Department within the College of Arts & Sciences, Division of Academic Affairs, is dedicated to teaching foundational biological concepts and research methods, and preparing students for professional careers and further academic study. Through active involvement in laboratory and research activities, the department enhances societal understanding of living organisms and their environments, while also fostering students’ technical and analytical skills—equipping them to contribute meaningfully to a rapidly advancing, technology-driven world.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to support undergraduate biology laboratory exercises across various courses including Genetics, Cell Biology, Vertebrate Zoology/Morphology, Entomology, and Histology. The role also involves assisting with the management of the laboratory team, which includes a group of seven research specialists and technicians, as well as several undergraduate assistants. Dr. Anne Marie Sohler Snoddy, a departmental Academic Professional Assistant Professor, will supervise the position. This is a ten month position, the employee will be given the months of June and July off each year.
Minimum Qualifications
BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN A DISCIPLINE RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

Preferred Qualifications
- 4 year degree + 3 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience.
