Position Summary
The Baker Lab at UNC Chapel Hill is recruiting a research technician to aid in ongoing research operations in the lab. Our research studies the function of peripheral membrane proteins. The candidate will perform assays, maintain logs, and provide technical support to graduate students and post-doctoral researchers.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The candidate is required to have previous research experience in a related field (biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or similar) and competency in basic molecular biology skills (pipetting, PCR, DNA cloning, gel electrophoresis, liquid chromatography). Previous experience in protein purification (IMAC, ion exchange) is also required. The candidate must be organized and proficient in maintaining a scientific lab notebook.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Previous research in structural biology, especially cryo electron microscopy or NMR, is preferred, but not required. Experience using an automated liquid chromatography system (AKTA Pure, NGC, etc.) is preferred, but not required. Previous experience in the handling of lipids and assembly of liposomes and vesicles is preferred, but not required.
