The Lee Lab at West Virginia State University is seeking a Research Technician to support a project investigating how environmental stressors influence local adaptation and meiotic recombination in crops and model plants. This position offers hands‑on experience in plant biology, molecular genetics, and data‑driven analysis while contributing to a growing research program in crop stress resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plant cultivation, growth monitoring, and environmental stress assays
  • Molecular biology workflows (PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, electrophoresis, etc.)
  • Microscopy and image‑based phenotyping
  • Bioinformatic analysis of genetic, physiological, and imaging datasets
  • Laboratory organization, inventory, and field support
  • Assisting with training and mentoring undergraduate researchers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related life science field (MS preferred)
  • Hands‑on experience with core molecular biology techniques
  • Prior experience working in a research laboratory, including record‑keeping and adherence to protocols
  • Ability to perform physical and repetitive tasks associated with plant cultivation, sample processing, and routine lab workflows
