Research Technician

Conducts field and laboratory experiments relating to bee and health in agricultural systems, including identifying insect specimens; testing and evaluating experimental procedures; assists in evaluating the validity of experimental data obtained; communicates with collaborators, public, private agencies and individuals on requests for information; assists with publications and reports; conducts library research; procures space, supplies and related equipment; arranges travel and shipment of equipment to study sites

Job duties include:

  • executes designated experiments related to bee health and diversity in agricultural systems, including procurement of space, supplies and related equipment; arranges travel and shipment of equipment to study sites; collects and ships samples; records data; prepares graphs and other illustrations to facilitate the interpretation of research findings

  • writes research progress reports, including summarizing experimental results; and assists in the preparation of papers for publication; presents experimental results to beekeeper groups; assists in judging the validity of data obtained from experimental procedures

  • provides collaborators with timely information about the progress of the experiments; responds to requests for technical information from individuals, public and private agencies;

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED. 1 year of relevant experience required.

Desired qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Entomology or a related field; preferred 2-4 years working with bees.
