Research Technician I

The Gust lab studies how the brain is affected by systemic inflammatory states, particularly in the setting of cancer immunotherapy. Our research is highly cross-disciplinary and draws from neuroscience, immunology, vascular biology, and oncology. We are looking for a full-time research technician who is hard working, organized, and excited to tackle the unknown.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques, record keeping, and cell biology methods
  • Bachelor’s degree in biological science field, a neuroscience background is helpful

Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with the PI and senior laboratory technician to focus on experimental technique and increasing independence in conducting experiments.
  • Manage and order lab supplies, manage animal protocols, train new lab members
  • You will be able to participate in experimental design, data collection, and publications. You will receive mentoring and support for career development.
  • The key methods we use in the lab include in vivo multiphoton microscopy in mouse models, cell culture, flow cytometry, and animal behavior. Readiness to learn and meticulous attention to detail will help you manage a broad array of techniques. You will have the opportunity to learn specialized methods, including microsurgery for cranial window implantation in mice for imaging.


Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field of science or technology OR college-level coursework in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or in a related science curriculum AND equivalent lab experience.

N/A.

Preferred
Data entry and/or word processing experience. Experience in analyzing data using spreadsheets and statistical analysis. At least two (2) years experience in a laboratory/research setting. Research experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and tissue culture techniques may be preferred.


Compensation Range

$21.30 - $30.33 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
