Position Highlights

The University is looking for a Research Technician I. This position involves working in the field and laboratory to support irrigation research. Key responsibilities include collecting and assisting in analyzing soil and plant samples at the University of Arizona Maricopa Ag Center and Arizona farms, using sensors and devices such as the neutron moisture meter. The role also includes assisting in taking care of experimental fields, preparing and assisting in analyzing samples in the lab, and helping organize events to share research findings with the farming community.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Soil and Plant Sampling: Collect samples from the University of Arizona Maricopa Ag Center and local farms for research, including plant measurements such as height, cover and biomass.
  • Soil Moisture Monitoring: Collect soil moisture data using neutron meters and sensors to support irrigation research.
  • Field Maintenance Assistance: Perform tasks like weeding and general upkeep to maintain experimental crops.
  • Lab Analysis Assistance: Prepare and test plant, soil, and water samples.
  • Extension Event Assistance: Help organize and run events to share research findings with the farming community.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
