The Department of Pediatrics employs nearly 1,000 faculty and staff who work alongside employees of Riley Hospital for Children and students of Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) to make Riley Children's Health Indiana's largest and most skilled pediatric system. Job Summary

The Division of Pediatrics Neonatal Medicine is seeking a Research Technician. The Research Technician will support Dr. Noble's lab by conducting mouse model research, perform laboratory experiments, and assist with data collection and analysis to advance studies on infection related outcomes in newborns. The role ensures smooth daily lab operations by maintaining a clean, organized workspace, managing supplies and equipment, and collaborating effectively in a shared research environment.

General Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide variety of complex experiments and reports results.
  • Organizes analytical data of performed experiments. May submit findings for publication.
  • Installs and maintains research equipment.
  • Acts as a liaison to students and laboratory personnel for training.
  • Maintains laboratory supply requisition and management.
  • Trains junior-level staff.
  • Plans experiments and short-term goals.
  • May require travel in order to service various research sites.

Qualifications

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years of related research experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Required

  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University may be required for some areas.

Working Conditions / Demands

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary

$43,000 - $48,000 annually based on experience, skill level, education, and training
