Position Overview

Kohrman Jackson & Krantz LLP (KJK) is seeking bright, motivated attorneys for a Research & Writing Associate position within our Litigation Practice Group in our Cleveland or Columbus office.


This role is ideal for attorneys who are passionate about legal research, analytical writing, and strategic case development. The Research & Writing Associate will work closely with litigators across practice areas to draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, memoranda, and other substantive legal documents that shape case strategy and client outcomes.


QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must:

  • Have either passed the Ohio Bar or be awaiting results from the February 2026 Ohio Bar examination
  • Possess zero to three years of legal experience
  • Demonstrate exceptional legal research and writing skills
  • Be creative, detail-oriented, organized, and ambitious
  • Exhibit strong analytical thinking and sound legal judgment


Superior grades in legal writing courses and participation in mock trial, moot court, and/or law review are preferred but not required.


KJK values innovation and the strategic use of technology in legal practice. Candidates should be comfortable leveraging modern legal research platforms and emerging technologies to enhance efficiency and work product quality. Experience or demonstrated interest in:

  • AI-assisted legal research and drafting tools
  • Technology-driven litigation strategy and data analysis
  • Prompt engineering and responsible use of generative AI in legal workflows
  • Evaluating AI output for accuracy, bias, and ethical compliance

is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate understands both the opportunities and limitations of AI in legal practice and can thoughtfully integrate these tools while maintaining professional responsibility and high standards of accuracy.


CAREER PATH

This is a non-partnership track position. However, outstanding performers who demonstrate initiative, leadership, and sustained excellence may be considered for promotion should a partnership-track opening become available.
