Position Highlights
The Department of Immunobiology is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to conduct innovative research in liver-related regenerative medicine. This position is open for a person with prior post-doctoral-level training in stem cell biology or a related field with an interest in research involving pluripotent stem cell differentiation into mature liver cell types and development of extracellular matrix-based scaffolds and organoids. The ideal candidate will work with other lab members to collaboratively develop engineered tissue constructs and assist with other projects as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares analysis for research reports and conducts literature review.

Identifies and recommends solutions to identifiable problems to PI and research leadership.

Collaborates with research leadership in the development of grant applications and preparation of reports of research results, including data for summaries, reports, presentations, and publications.

Train undergraduate students, medical students, and graduate students in equipment operation and research techniques.

Independently perform experiments, interpret data, and analyze results.

Collaborates with team on developing protocols to differentiate cells into hepatocyte cells and organoids.

Assay functionality of differentiated tissue in 3D scaffolds.

Help create 3D bio-engineered scaffolds made from extracellular matrix tissue.

Develop and establish functional timelines to complete assigned work to meet the requirements of the research obligations.

Contribute and participate in authorship of research publications, presentations and grant applications.

Collect, analyze and graph data, conclude research projects in a timely manner, and write reports and grants.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent communication and writing skills for manuscript, grant submissions, publications, federal annual reports, and lab meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses.
