Resident Engineer

Role Overview

The Resident Engineer will be the onsite technical authority for managing, securing, and optimizing Dell Thin Client fleets—specifically ThinOS environments—across banking branches and operations. This specialist will ensure full hardware and peripheral compatibility, stringent security posture meeting banking standards (including multi-factor authentication), and deliver hands-on technical support and guidance to IT teams and end users.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee large-scale deployment, integration, and lifecycle management of Dell Thin Clients operating ThinOS within banking environments.
• Lead comprehensive testing, integration, and troubleshooting for all relevant peripherals (e.g., card readers, scanners, printers, biometrics) ensuring full compatibility for branch operations.
• Configure, update, and centrally manage ThinOS devices and peripherals through Wyse Management Suite (WMS), including firmware and driver management.
• Apply and enforce all required bank security measures, such as multi-factor authentication (MFA) using smartcards, biometrics, FIDO2 keys, and SAML/RADIUS-based authentication solutions.
• Work closely with bank security and compliance teams to ensure that ThinOS devices adhere to regulatory requirements, including enabling FIPS 140-2 mode and monitoring device audit status.
• Develop, document, and maintain security policies for endpoint protection; proactively deploy patches and software updates.
• Train and support IT staff in ThinOS management, incident response, and peripheral lifecycle best practices.
• Act as the point-of-contact between Dell, the bank’s technical teams, and third-party vendors for specialized peripherals or security workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive, hands-on experience managing Dell Thin Clients (preferably with ThinOS) in a secure environment.
• Proven expertise in the configuration and troubleshooting of banking peripherals: biometric devices, card readers, scanners, and compatible printers.
• Strong working knowledge of Wyse Management Suite and Admin Policy Tool for device and security management.
• Understanding of endpoint device compliance, software/firmware updates, and asset lifecycle management.
• Solid background in information security, including deployment and management of multi-factor authentication (MFA) and cryptographic controls in banking or other regulated industries.
• Experience applying and enforcing security frameworks and regulatory requirements (e.g., FIPS, SAML MFA, RADIUS-based authentication).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills—capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Industry certifications in Dell, Microsoft, Citrix, or VDI solutions are desirable.

Contract length: 2 months

Pay: Up to KD1,494.000 per month
