Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Resident in Counseling (LPC Track) to join our dynamic mental health team. This paid position offers supervised clinical training and hands-on experience in providing comprehensive mental health services. As a Resident, you will engage in direct patient care, develop your counseling skills across diverse populations, and contribute to impactful therapeutic interventions. Duties
- Conduct intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to determine client needs and treatment plans
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA)
- Engage in crisis intervention and crisis management to support clients experiencing acute mental health challenges or behavioral emergencies
- Facilitate specialized counseling services including grief counseling, PTSD care, addiction counseling, gender issues counseling, and working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and behavioral health records in compliance with HIPAA regulations; utilize medical terminology effectively for case documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on patient care plans, case management, and research initiatives to enhance treatment outcomes
- Participate in telehealth sessions, outpatient clinics, inpatient settings, and community outreach programs to broaden clinical experience
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field with LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) track eligibility; supervision provided for licensure completion
- Demonstrated knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, psychopharmacology basics, and social work principles
- Experience working with children, adolescents, geriatrics, or individuals with disabilities preferred; familiarity with pediatrics and special education settings is a plus
- Strong skills in crisis management, behavior management, patient assessment, and diagnostic evaluation using ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10)
- Excellent communication skills for intake interviews and patient interactions; ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to mental health conditions; experience with medical records management preferred
- Telehealth experience is advantageous; commitment to confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA standards essential
