Overview:
We are seeking a general contracting estimator to join our team. As an estimator, you will play a crucial role in the construction process by providing accurate cost estimates for projects. This is a full-time sales position with competitive commission-based pay and benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engage in daily walk throughs for new clients looking for quotes on general contracting projects.
- Produce proposals for new residential remodeling projects in a timely manner using CoConstruct.
- Analyze, monitor, and prepare cost exposures on your projects to maintain comprehensive budgets.
- Support production manager to create, monitor and maintain construction schedules.
- Assist in preparing all bid packages and manage the bid process for new work.
- Support production manager in soliciting, evaluating, and selecting subcontractors based upon the sale of work.
- Manage your pipeline daily, providing customers with necessary follow up communication.
- Contact all customers with proposals awaiting approval at least once per week.
- Document all communications with customers in CoConstruct.
- Attend weekly general contracting department meeting and provide updates on all customers in pipeline.
- Hold subcontractors accountable for submitting pricing in a timely manner.
- Produce submittals for installers/subcontractors, requests for information from homeowners or subcontractors, shop drawings, and change order requests.
- Set and manage clients' expectations and their requests in a timely manner. Resolve issues to include escalating them with management as needed.
- Generate a “production material list” for each job that includes the list of materials required to procure the job, along with any knowledge of appropriate lead times.
- Attend public networking events or meetings as needed on behalf of the owner/company.
- Attend weekend events a couple times per year if needed.
- Work independently and solve problems with minimal supervision.
- Support the weatherization division with cross-selling opportunities.
- Follow all company procedures, such as turning in all receipts for purchases on the company credit card.
- Report to jobsite/office on time, alert, on a daily basis.
- Have a clean appearance and wear TCS branded apparel at all times.
- Punch in and out through CoConstruct.
- Maintain a valid drivers license.
- Update yourself about job needs for education by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in sales, preferably construction estimating.
- Knowledge of construction management principles and practices is preferred
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
- CoConstruct experience is a plus
- Chief Architect experience is a plus
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost calculations
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and other technical documents
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Detail-oriented and ambitious with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
