Residential Interior Designer

Karen Kempf Interiors is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Interior Designer to join our growing residential design studio. This role is ideal for a designer with 3+ years of professional experience who is passionate about creating thoughtful, well-executed interiors and enjoys being involved in every phase of the design process—from initial concept through installation.

Founded in 2000, Karen Kempf Interiors is a full-service residential design firm specializing in remodels and new construction. Our mission is to create customized, enduring interiors that balance beauty and function. We begin with our clients’ vision and translate it into spaces that feel personal, elevated, and thoughtfully designed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop design concepts, vision boards, and finish selections for residential projects
  • Prepare clear and accurate documentation for internal teams and field use
  • Research and source furnishings and finishes from local showrooms and websites, including furniture, fabrics, tile, plumbing fixtures, appliances, lighting, hardware, countertops, and flooring
  • Create organized spreadsheets and schedules to share with project managers and clients
  • Manage administrative and project-related tasks such as pricing, estimates, order placement, tracking, invoicing, and coordinating deliveries
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure accuracy, lead times, and timely delivery
  • Serve as a key point of contact for homeowners throughout all project phases via meetings, site visits, and weekly communication
  • Collaborate closely with architects, construction project managers, and field personnel to ensure seamless design coordination and execution

Qualifications

  • Interior Design degree from an accredited two- or four-year college or university
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional residential interior design experience (remodels and/or new construction preferred)
  • Proficiency in SketchUp and LayOut, as well as Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Studio Designer, Asana, and Bluebeam Revu is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Position Details
