Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Residential Interior Designer & Plan Set/Drafting Specialist to join our dynamic design team. This role involves creating comprehensive interior design plans, drafting detailed drawings, and collaborating closely with clients and contractors to bring innovative residential spaces to life. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a keen eye for aesthetics, and a passion for transforming interior environments through thoughtful design and precise execution.

About Us

Revive & Renew Remodeling (Dallas / Collin / Rockwall) is a residential remodeling company focused on high-quality craftsmanship and a smooth client experience. We run organized projects, communicate clearly, and we’re building repeatable systems for growth.

What You’ll Do

1) Client Design & Preconstruction

  • Lead discovery meetings, style alignment, and space planning for kitchens, baths, interior reconfigs, and additions
  • Create concept direction: mood boards, finish palettes, and material standards per project
  • Develop layouts (kitchen/bath cabinetry, fixture locations, clearances) and coordinate constructability with field team
  • Present design options, guide decisions, and document approvals

2) Drawings / Permit Sets (Residential)

  • Produce clear, buildable plan sets for permit and construction use (see deliverables below)
  • Maintain “Issued For Construction” (IFC) drawings and update as change orders occur
  • Coordinate with our structural engineer for sealed details when scope requires it (beams, openings, foundation/framing, etc.)
  • Coordinate trade input (cabinet shop drawings, plumber/electrician layouts, HVAC notes) to reduce conflicts

3) Procurement & Order Management

  • Own the selections-to-order pipeline: quotes, lead times, ordering, tracking, receiving, and issue resolution
  • Confirm quantities, specs, and compatibility (valves/trim, rough-in requirements, cabinet fillers, transitions, etc.)
  • Manage vendor relationships (showrooms, cabinet lines, tile suppliers, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware)
  • Track budgets/allowances, document overages, and support change orders tied to selections
  • Handle damages/returns/warranty claims with vendors and manufacturers

4) Project Support (During Construction)

  • Participate in jobsite walkthroughs as needed for field verification and design intent
  • Answer RFI-style questions from field team quickly (details, transitions, installation intent)
  • Punch-list support: confirm finish details, final styling, missing items, warranty docs

What Success Looks Like (90-Day Targets)

  • You can run client design meetings confidently and keep decisions moving
  • You’re producing clean, consistent plan sets that reduce jobsite ambiguity
  • Procurement runs on-time with minimal “surprise lead times”
  • Field team trusts your details; clients feel guided and confident

Duties

  • Develop conceptual interior design ideas aligned with client needs and project goals.
  • Create detailed plan sets, elevations, sections, and 3D models using software such as SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD, Rhinoceros 3D, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Prepare accurate drafting documents, including construction details, lighting plans, and remodeling layouts.
  • Collaborate with clients to select color schemes, materials, lighting fixtures, and furnishings based on color theory and current design trends.
  • Manage project timelines (for procurement purposes) and coordinate with contractors on renovation and construction phases.
  • Assist in lighting sales consultations by designing lighting solutions that enhance aesthetic appeal and functionality.
  • Prepare contracts, budgets, and proposals for interior projects while ensuring compliance with client specifications.
  • Conduct site visits to oversee project progress, ensure adherence to plans, and address any design or construction issues promptly.
  • Stay current with industry standards, new materials, and innovative design techniques to continually improve project quality.

Qualifications

Required Skills / Experience

  • Experience in residential remodeling design (kitchens/baths strongly preferred)
  • Proficient in SketchUp (or Chief/2020/Revit + willingness to adapt) and construction drawing creation
  • Strong knowledge of common residential materials and install constraints
  • Organized: can track many moving parts (lead times, budgets, approvals, orders)
  • Clear client communication and professional presentation skills
  • Comfortable with occasional site visits across Dallas-area counties

Nice to Have

  • Experience preparing permit drawings and coordinating with city plan review
  • Cabinet design experience (layouts, elevations, fillers, clearances)
  • Familiarity with JobTread, Buildertrend, CoConstruct, or similar

Compensation / Schedule

  • Full-time, remote work + site visits as necessary.
  • Compensation based on experience + performance incentives tied to project execution
  • Proven experience in residential interior design with a strong portfolio demonstrating plan sets and drafting expertise
