Due to the available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $31.19 per hour.
Why does the job exist?

This position is responsible for the development of parole and release plans for inmates and offenders under the supervision of the New Mexico Corrections Department. The position will work with inmates, probation officers, and other agencies to develop parole and release plans.
How does it get done?

  • Performs pre-release case management for the reentry and integration of inmates/offenders releasing from an NMCD correctional facility.
  • Work with facility medical, education, behavioral health, and other facility staff to create a successful reentry plan for the inmate.
  • Evaluate inmates using questionnaires and psychological tests.
  • Write treatment plans and summaries for each inmate.
  • Counsel inmates/offenders and create rehabilitation plans for them to follow when they are no longer in prison or on parole.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Guidance and Counseling, Penology, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Family Studies/Services, Criminology, or related field as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or experience in a correctional setting, records management, file auditing, case management, law enforcement, counseling, social work, government assistance programs, rehabilitative environment, working on health or social service-related matters, behavioral health, policy and/or statutory compliance totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education.
Employment Requirements

This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to a preemployment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Preemployment background check is required and conditional pending results.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
