Sunrise Center is actively seeking a residential tech for the female residential technician unit to support residential treatment facility for individuals with substance use disorders. The position is part-time covering a range of shifts. We are a 24/7 365 facility and the residential technicians are a crucial part of our team in supporting the day to day operations of the agency.
Purpose of Position: Protect the safety, well-being, integrity and mission of the Sunrise Centre residents. Oversees and monitors the daily activities as outlined within our policies and procedures.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one year working experience in a client or customer-focused environment. Must be able to take supervision and direction, possess an aptitude in written and oral communication, and be computer literate. Familiarity with the 12-Step Study and/or substance abuse treatment preferred. CPR/First Aid certification preferred. Some medical terminology preferred.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and supervision of detoxification and residential clients
- Maintain client safety through observing and reporting client behaviors, communications, interactions and physical status
- Perform or monitor drug testing when necessary
- Monitor client’s vital signs for withdrawal signs/symptoms, record, and report to nursing or medical staff as needed
- Administer medications as ordered by the nursing staff following defined protocol
- Troubleshoot discrepancies identified in medication setup as compared to the Medication Administration Record
- Determine appropriate documentation for incidents Write reports as required
- Maintain unit milieu and provides for a safe and secure environment
- Check for contraband in the possession of clients
- Interact professionally with resident clients and their support people
- Plan and facilitate 12-Step Study, in-house Alcoholic Anonymous preparatory meetings, recreation, independent study and social group activities
- Ensure housekeeping duties are completed by clients
- Complete regularly scheduled client head count sheet
- File paperwork as necessary in medical record system
- Enforce Sunrise Centre rules
- Assist clients with their immediate needs, room assignments, buddies, introductions and general assistance appointments
- Assist clinical staff to ensure that the client treatment needs are appropriately being met
- Document own observations of all client progress, actions taken, services provided, and client participation as well as general observations during shift
- Participate in all staff meetings, training sessions and approved in-service education
- Achieve a clear understanding of policies and procedures, client’s rights, trauma informed care, and emergency procedures
- Participate in mandatory in-service trainings
- Support the mission of Sunrise Centre by treating every client and colleague with respect and dignity and without discrimination of any kind
- Maintain and adheres to confidentiality
- Demonstrate competence in cultural issues that impact the lives of clients, including consideration of age, gender, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, and socioeconomic status
Special Skills/Requirements:
- Operate general office machines, including but not limited to, computer, electronic health record, email, scanner, printer, fax, copier, and telephone
- Take and record vital signs
- Handle medications and determine safe administration following defined protocol
- Able to administer and interpret a Preliminary Breath Test and urinalysis drug test screen
Physical Demands:
- Accept some risk to communicable diseases
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to perform repetitive motions using a keyboard infrequently
- Able to stand for long periods of time, walk, climb stairs, stoop or bend
- Possess an ability to work comfortably as a team player and thrive in a fast paced environment which requires handling stressful situations and strong emotional interactions with clients
- Able to communicate calmly and effectively with multiple persons seeking service at one time, also selects appropriate timing and methods for communication
- Able to remain calm in a medical emergency and summon help as needed
- Accept responsibility for own actions, follows policies and procedures, meets commitments
- Able to work cooperatively with all staff and persons served; treats others with respect and promotes a positive work environment
- Able to remain alcohol and drug free in the workplace and pass a drug or alcohol screen and background check at any time before and during employment
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.50 - $19.00 per hour
