Respiratory Therapist

Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Home Oxygen & Ventilator Services (VA Patients)

Eagle Home Medical Corporation is seeking a motivated, patient-focused Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our growing team. This role is critical in supporting U.S. Veterans by delivering high-quality, contract-compliant respiratory care in the home setting under Veterans Affairs (VA) contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-home respiratory therapy visits for VA patients in strict accordance with VA contract requirements and Eagle Home Medical policies.
  • Conduct ventilator equipment checks, including documentation of ventilator status, alarms, backup equipment, circuit changes, and accessories.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education on respiratory equipment use, basic operation, safety precautions, cleaning, and emergency procedures (non-clinical instruction only).
  • Complete and submit all required documentation related to home visits, follow-up calls, equipment checks, and patient communication in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicate effectively with VA staff, patients, caregivers, and Eagle leadership regarding equipment status, concerns, or service needs.
  • Promptly report and document any incidents, safety concerns, suspected abuse, neglect, or equipment issues in accordance with company and VA protocols.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required.
  • Perform additional respiratory therapy–related duties as assigned within scope and contract guidelines.

Clinical & Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP systems, and ventilator equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in conducting respiratory equipment assessments and monitoring equipment performance.
  • Ability to educate patients and caregivers clearly and compassionately.
  • Solid understanding of infection control standards and home care safety practices.
  • Skilled in the operation, troubleshooting, transport, and setup of:
  • Oxygen concentrators
  • Ventilators
  • CPAP/BiPAP devices
  • Nebulizers and related respiratory equipment
  • Accurate, timely completion of electronic and paper medical documentation.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (required).
  • NBRC certification and active, applicable state licensure (required).
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Pay: $24.00 - $38.00 per hour
